News and Recent Events

The Blessing of the Animals Service on October 5th was a great success! Take a look at some photos of the service here.

The First Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville celebrated Veterans Day on Sunday, November 9 by honoring WWII veterans at their worship service. Each of the recipients (or a family member representing those who were not present) received a memorial coin. Those honored were Lee Manners, Glenn Hester, Dan Niesler, Ralph Wheeler (deceased), and Arvid Padgett. Chaplain Jim Wilson delivered a Veterans’ Day sermon and the congregation sang appropriate patriotic hymns.

Sunday, December 14 - Jamie McLemore, our concert artist from Birmingham, will be presenting a Christmas/Advent concert on Dec. 14 at 4:00 PM. We are all thrilled to welcome him back. You will remember that he played at the dedication con-cert in July. He was so pleased with the quality of the renovation of the organ that he said “I would love to come back and play at Christmas.” The organ was tuned on November 10, so it is ready for another concert.

Sunday, December 21 - The Christmas Camerata will present a Christmas choral program on December 21 at 3:00 PM for you. Please invite your friends and family to join us for this wonderful musical experience.
